My Bookshelf Reviews

Intro to my Reviews:

My backlog of books to read is ever growing, which is a good thing and a bad thing. The "good thing" is that I have plenty to read. The "bad thing" is that I could let a really good book slip off my bookshelf. I hate when that happens. When books were hard backs and paper backs, it was easy to see what was on the bookshelf. It's not so easy in the e-book world.
Net Galley

I have just started to review for Net Galley and hope to be a professional reviewer/blogger. Currently, the books on my Net Galley bookshelf are my high priorities. I provide the review on this blog, Amazon and my Goodreads page. When I discover new writers that are awesome they will also get featured on my Stalking Writers page.  Here's hoping I get to stalk a lot of writers.

I know if I like or dislike a book doesn't mean that other readers will feel the same way. I like to write reviews that will help people in finding books that they will like. Sometimes what I don't like may be just what another reader can't resist. I do find that most readers are interested in a few basics and I try to cover the following:

  1. Narrator tense: Do you like 1st POV or not?
  2. Pacing: Excessive verbiage or just the right amount of detail.
  3. Plot: Does it have one? Does it have too many?
  4. Character development: Do we really get to know our leading protagonist and others?
  5. Religious aspects: Readers want to know if it preaches. Some want it, some don't.
  6. Sexual content: Just like spices in the kitchen, some like it hot, some not so much.
  7. Series or cliffhangers: There are a lot of readers who like series and others who don't.
  8. Cost per page: It's almost like square footage in real estate. People want to know what the bang for the buck is. I have noticed a lot of readers are really starting to pay attention to the cost per page so I try to provide that. (Of course if you get a reduced price your bang for the buck is just that much better.)
I'll clue you in on my pet peeves and try to help you navigate a potential train wreck. But what I really want to do is introduce you to wonderful books to read. That's where the fun is!

On My Bookshelf

Just Completed: Via Net Galley I was introduce to the Rogue River Novellas that are written by Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot. This is Book 2 of the Rogue River Series. It can be read as a stand alone, but you can get more immersed in all the characters if you read them all and in order. Book 1 and Book 2 are complete and Books 3 and 4 are scheduled to be release in November.

In Solitude, Oregon, everyone has secrets…and some will kill to keep them. See my full review...
